NEWS BEFORE ITS MAINSTREAM: Increasing issue of homeless breaking into abandoned homes

By Jenny Paulson – Last night six police officers surrounded an abandoned home at 2715 East Routt in Pueblo after two men carrying flash lights broke in. Police caught one at Oakland and Maryland and another at Pine and Maryland at about 10 pm.

According to Dan Wall on the popular facebook Scanner Alert page, there are more reports of people breaking into Pueblo’s abandoned homes.

Locals have expressed increasing frustration with Pueblo’s abandoned homes and it is Code Enforcement that is in charge of monitoring them and having them boarded up.
Code Enforcement appears to be understaffed and by law they have to take at least 20 days to have homeowners clean up board up abandoned homes first.
