WHAT’S HAPPENED TO PUEBLO – AND HOW THE SWEET FORMER PUEBLO IS MISSED by Missy Champlain

“Pueblo, Pueblo, What has happened to You? You’re lookin real bad, what the heck did you do? Why do so many nod off and twitch all the time? They’re covered in meth sores, doin all kinds of crime. There’s not enough cops and they’re getting burnt out And what in the heck are these car thieves about?

Pueblo, Pueblo, have you gone insane? What happened to those who gave you a good name? The court building is new and Wow is it packed! It’s like the whole city is under attack. There’s twacktards all over robbing you blind There’s constantly fighting and no fun to find Vacant houses are filled up with all these dope squatters Prostitution all over, God, that’s somebody’s daughters.

Pueblo, Pueblo I grew up with you And so did my Daddy, and HIS Daddy too! Heroin poisons the minds of the youth And what in the heck happened to that guy’s tooth? There’s no help for the homeless so they’re hitting the streets, City council doesn’t do much but sit in their seats The government programs meant to help those in need They’ve become so dried out that they no longer bleed Churches have become emptier by the week And they’re no longer filled with the loving and meek

Pueblo, Pueblo, it seems nothing is ok Remember the joy you had back in the day? Robberies, gun shots, beggars, EVERYWHERE Even the good guys seem to no longer care I want to help but don’t know what to do I’m wondering if I should get the hell out of you. Alcoholics stumbling all over and around in the dark And why are these needles all over your parks!? I tell myself, well I guess all I can do is just pray. But somehow that don’t seem like enough, I say Pueblo Pueblo, why does your library seem off? Theres no readers and children, just dirty guys that cough

Your government buildings look really quite nice But what about all the bugs, and the mold, and the mice Citizens treating each other with disdain and hate How in the world could this be your fate I love you dear city, but this is bringing me down I sure miss when this was a loving sweet town.
